Group Visual: Internal Video
The Challenge
We’re going to be completely honest with you...we screwed up big time on this project. Earlier in the discovery stage of the process, we thought we understood what this client wanted, only to find out halfway through animation that they really, REALLY did not like what we had created. What went wrong?! What went wrong was that we didn’t hold true to our own process. One of the most important things we hold to in our process is getting the Key Persuasion right. The Key Persuasion is essentially the goal of the video…in writing. It ensures that everyone is shaking their heads at every stage of the video creation process that we are still accomplishing the goal of the video. If you push past any step in the process without agreeing that we’re still achieving the Key Persuasion, or use language like “just trust me,” then you severely run the risk of getting off course. That’s what happened on this project and because of it, we almost lost a very important client.
The Approach
The first thing we needed to do after we learned of our client’s distaste for our work was to get on the phone and apologize. So that’s exactly what we did. We needed to win them back on a character basis first to gain their trust. Then we needed to win them back on new creative. And ultimately we needed to win them back on a newly animated video.
The Result
We hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did, because after a long hard battle…we won this client back! And it was well worth it.
